Antennaria plantaginifolia - Plantain-leaf Pussytoes, Woman's Tobacco. The USDA Plants Database lists 40 species of Antennaria in the United States and Canada, and there is at least one species in every state except Hawaii. Antennaria plantaginifolia is one of only six species found east of the Mississippi River, being present in every state east of that geographic boundary as well as in the 5 other Mississippi River bordering states.

Plantain-leaf Pussytoes is stoloniferous - growing from a runner along the ground, and dioecious - male and female flowers are on different plants.

The Common name pussytoes is due to the similar appearance to the bottom of the foot of a cat. This photo is of a staminate plant - male plant - with the orange stamens showing.
