Indian Pink, Woodland Pinkroot, Worm grass - Spigelia marilandica
|
Spigelia marilandica - Indian Pink, Woodland Pinkroot, Worm grass. Indian Pink is an attractive plant, and by the color and shape of the flower, you could guess correctly that it is popular with hummingbirds. It has a number of medicinal properties, and is said to be an effective anti-worming agent (thus the Worm Grass name, presumably.) However, as with many plants used for medicinal purposes, it can be toxic and deadly if ingested improperly.
