Hieracium aurantiacum - Orange Hawkweed, Devil's Paintbrush. This non-native species is listed as a noxious weed in five states. Hieracium aurantiacum is found in most of the northern United States from coast to coast, and a number of southern states as well. It is also found in much of Canada.

Other Hawkweeds (genus Hieracium) have yellow blossoms, but Orange Hawkweed’s name reflects the color of the blossom.

Hieracium aurantiacum is a quite hairy plant, a feature of many Hieracium species. The leaves are almost exclusively in a basal rosette, "spatulate to oblanceolate", hairy. The stem is usually 8 to 18 inches tall, but is occasionally up to about 3 feet, and is also hairy. The stem is usually unbranched or branched only near the top.
