This blossom is perhaps an inch across from sepal-tip to sepal-tip. The blossoms are in a terminal raceme on a solitary, unleaved stalk (scape.)

The leaf of Puttyroot has distinct silver lengthwise veins. The leaf emerges in the fall, and by spring will have started to wither.
